Avoiding And Removing Adware And Spyware

By Jerry J. Jansen On April 17, 2010 Under Internet Security

Spyware are applications that collect information from your computer without your knowledge or consent with the intention of passing it to the spyware manufacturer or third persons, these files spy to collect information about your browsing habits on the Internet, tastes, preferences and personal data. Thus, the spy, who usually is an advertising company, has the knowledge to send advertising to suit your tastes.

Without realizing it ourselves, we are usually responsible for these spyware installed on our computers, as these are usually in some programs that are shareware and free of which there are thousands on the Internet. They can also be installed by trojans or web pages that ask to install ActiveX controls.

The spyware can be destabilizing to your computer so much that they can easily control Internet browsing redirected to their web sites, change your main home page and you can not change it, and can control your keyboard, bombard your computer with products which are mainly pornographic ads , makes your computer so slow thereby preventing any program of your choice from running.

To remove spyware you need tools, many of them are free and very good which you can download. Some of these are:

a) SpyBot Search & Destroy

b) Spy Sweeper

c) Ad-Aware Personal

After downloading the applications mentioned or those of your choice, simply start to run them to remove the spyware/adware then when your program finishes, after you verify that the spyware was removed, I recommend you re-run the program for safety and of course always keep your antivirus updated.

So that it does not happen again:

1) Do not click any window that is presented unexpectedly while you browse the Internet, these windows are known as “pop-ups”

2) Where a window that asks you to accept any task or program start, if you are not sure what to do for your safety cancel the window by clicking the x in the window which is usually red.

3) Turn on firewall

4) Do not download programs from sites that seem unreliable.

5) Beware of suspicious emails offering free download applications.

6) Search for information about spyware on the Internet for a better understanding

By following these recommendations you will be less likely to be a victim of spyware.
